FIRST LOOK: Adam Lambert Sits Down with Oprah
Posted by admin on January 14th, 2010. Filed in News & Rumors, TV Appearances -- Comment?

It’s hardly like Adam Lambert to be anything but upfront, so the recent mystery about his possible appearing with Oprah Winfrey on her show was a bit baffling. But baffle no more.

While the American Idol sensation addressed the rumors and Twittered last Thursday, “Oprah: def true,” word from the Winfrey camp reached PEOPLE to say that the 27-year-old and the media queen taped their interview Wednesday at the Harpo Studios in Chicago. The show will air Tuesday, Jan. 19.

In the course of their sit-down, Lambert touched upon Simon Cowell’s announced departure from Idol and its possible ramifications for the show, what life was like for him both pre-Idol and after, and his controversial performance at the American Music Awards.

The singer also performed “Whataya Want from Me” from his new album For Your Entertainment. Also on the Oprah Winfrey Show with Adam: chart-topper Susan Boyle.

Adam Lambert’s ‘Whataya Want From Me’ Video: Catch A Second Sneak Peek Here
Posted by admin on January 14th, 2010. Filed in News & Rumors, Videos -- Comment?

On Tuesday, we got our first glimpse of Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me” video, a somber, solitary clip that saw everyone’s favorite “American Idol” extraovert dialing it back a few notches — no makeup, no outlandish getups, just a guy with a really killer voice, completely alone in an apartment, singing from the heart.

On Wednesday (January 13), we got another peek at the video, and this time, the mood seems to have shifted. Big time.

It’s not like things have become overly jovial. This is still a pretty morose video. But, unlike the first sneak peek, Lambert seems to have invited a few friends to his pity party. We see him backed by a roaring live band, dressed in a trench coat, singing for the skyline. We see him hounded by the paparazzi, and, perhaps most important, we see him getting sorta mad.

It seems like Lambert is throwing his hands up and asking the listener (not to mention his detractors and fans), “Look, what do you want from me? There is really doing no right by you people!” It’s a disarming, deeply personal moment. One of the knocks on Lambert has always been that he’s a trained “theater kid,” who has clearly been performing for most of his life. In “Whataya Want From Me,” he drops the act. He gets real. Of course, it’s still a video, so he technically is still performing, but he’s at his best when he’s just playing himself.

It’s the role of a lifetime, really. And we can’t wait to see the rest of his performance, when the “Whataya Want From Me” premieres in full on Friday.

Adam Lambert gets half-hour Fuse interview show
Posted by admin on January 8th, 2010. Filed in News & Rumors, TV Appearances, Videos -- Comment?

Fuse will run a half-hour On the Record interview with Adam Lambert as part of its “Idol AllStars Takeover” programming Monday, the night before the American Idol season premiere. In the interview, Adam talks about middle school, collaborating with Pink, coming out of the closet and his album cover.

“People saw that cover and they were like, ‘He looks a little feminine to me, I don’t understand.’” Adam says on the show, which premieres at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. “I’m, like, yeah … I had so much airbrushing on that picture on purpose. The Hunky Dory cover that [David] Bowie did, Boy George and Motley Crue and Prince — like all these artists that did this over-the-top lipsticky glammy thing. The minute someone Idol does it, who’s actually gay, it’s like, ‘Oh No!’”

Randy Jackson: No Adam Lambert clone on next ‘Idol’
Posted by admin on January 8th, 2010. Filed in News & Rumors -- Comment?

LOS ANGELES – There won’t be anyone quite like Adam Lambert on the next season of “American Idol.”

Easygoing “Idol” judge Randy Jackson told reporters during a Friday teleconference that he expected to see clones of the over-the-top eighth season runner-up or even croony champion Kris Allen show up to audition for the Fox talent competition’s ninth season, which premieres Tuesday (8 p.m. EST), but there were none to be found this time around.

“Usually, whoever comes in first or second, that next season of auditions, you have a lot of those kinds of people,” he said. “It’s almost like a signal to everyone at home that was like them that now it’s time to try out for ‘American Idol.’ It didn’t happen like that this time. We got a very interesting, unique cast that’s only unique to this season nine.”

Jackson, who serves on the judging panel with Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and newcomer Ellen DeGeneres, said audition cities Dallas and Atlanta offered singers with the most starpower while Orlando, Fla., was “really strange” in terms of finding talent. He also said he was on the lookout for female crooners because the past two winners have been male.

“I think there’s some really talented girls that showed up this time,” he said.
